Nose of Delta plane briefly catches fire at SEA Airport

Delta flight 604 from Cancun briefly caught fire after the crew noticed smoke in the nose area.

SEATAC, Wash. — Remaining passengers aboard a Delta flight that had arrived at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport the night of May 6 were evacuated after a fire started inside the nose of the plane.

Delta flight 604 from Cancun arrived to gate A10 around 9:30 p.m. After plugging into electric power, sparks caused a fire, according to airport spokesperson Perry Cooper. 

According to Delta, slides were deployed “out of an abundance of caution” after the flight crew noticed smoke around the plane’s nose.
