‘Nobody deserves this’: Seattle woman speaks out after brutal, unprovoked attack

A suspect badly injured the 75-year-old woman’s right eye and broke her nose and cheek bone. Now, the community is rallying around her, donating thousands.

SEATTLE — A 75-year-old woman was left blind in one eye and suffered serious facial injuries after a random assault Friday in downtown Seattle. 

Jeanette Marken spoke exclusively with KING 5 on Wednesday, sharing her story for the first time.

Marken was delivering food orders around noon Friday at Third Avenue and James Street when she says she was blindsided. Marken speaks Spanish and her son, Andrius Dyrikis, helped to translate.
