No, you still can’t buy high-capacity magazines in Washington state

A Cowlitz County judge overturned Washington state’s ban on high capacity magazines, but then another judge ruled that it should stay in place – for now.

SEATTLE — Despite a Cowlitz County judge declaring the state’s high-capacity magazine ban unconstitutional on Monday, residents of Washington still cannot buy the magazines as of now.

That is due to an emergency stay filed by the Attorney General’s Office that was approved by the Washington State Supreme Court.

The stay order was granted for multiple reasons, including the “debatable nature” of issues raised in the case and public safety issues. The law will need to be reviewed
