No water, restrooms at Paradise after heavy rain event

ASHFORD, Wash. — Water service has been out at Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park since late Friday night, and officials say they don’t know when it will be restored.

The outage, caused by damage from a recent heavy rain event, has also shut down restrooms at Paradise and Narada Falls. The closest available restrooms are at Cougar Rock picnic area and campground, about a 20-minute drive southwest, and at Longmire, another five minutes further.

A park spokesperson said crews are scrambling to get supplies up to Paradise to meet basic needs. Installing portable toilets has become a top priority. Limited prepared food and bottled water remain
