EVERETT, Wash. — Washington’s new minimum wage took effect today increasing to $17.13 an hour, up 47 cents from last year.
The state has had one of the highest, and often the highest, minimum wage in the country since the 1960s. The latest increase is part of Washington’s regular inflation-adjustment process.
For about 250,000 businesses statewide, including Kate’s diner in Everett, that means budgeting for higher labor costs in the new year.
