New bill makes it illegal for Washingtonians to carry firearms in these locations

Security, law enforcement and people with concealed carry licenses are exempt.

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Firearms are now prohibited in several locations, following Washington Gov. Jay Inslee signing a new bill into law on Tuesday. 

Senate Bill 5444, sponsored by state Sen. Javier Valdez (D-Seattle), bans the open carry of firearms and other weapons in public libraries, zoos, aquariums and transit stations or facilities used for public transportation, including bus stops and light rail stations.
