SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — A Sedro-Woolley man says he stopped what may have been a bait-and-switch targeting a 71-year-old neighbor after workers offered to lay a driveway at a “discounted” rate — then demanded $10,000.
On Monday, a man claiming to work for a paving company approached the woman through her doorbell camera, saying he had leftover asphalt from a nearby job and would charge only for materials. The homeowner, who recently had a stroke and struggles to speak, could not easily refuse.
