NB I-5 back open near Arlington after brush-fire related closure

Northbound I-5 was closed near Arlington due to brush fires, causing driver detours.

ARLINGTON, Wash. — Northbound Interstate 5 is back open near Arlington after crews responded to multiple brush fires on Monday, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

As of Monday night, the fires are about 90% contained, according to North County Fire Chief Dave Krasky.

Firefighters are looking into two possible causes: carbon discharge from a semi truck or a car part dragging on the roadway. Officials do not believe they were set intentionally.
