SEATTLE — A series of storm systems is set to bring repeated rounds of rain, mountain snow, and gusty winds to western Washington from this weekend into next week, with impacts expected to vary by day.

A strengthening low-pressure system spinning offshore is sending the first weather front across the region. Rain is moving through the lowlands, while snow is falling in higher elevations, mainly above 1,500 to 2,000 feet. Hood Canal, the western Kitsap peninsula, and portions of the Southwest Interior are the exceptions.
