Mount Vernon students prepare to dance, play mariachi music for Cinco de Mayo parade

On Sunday, May 3, downtown Mount Vernon will shut down to make way for the annual Mariachi and Folklórico Cinco de Mayo Parade.

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — A portion of downtown Mount Vernon will transform into a celebration of Mexican culture on Sunday, May 3.

In 2024, students in the Mount Vernon School District put together the first parade event, according to Ramon Rivera, the director of the MVHS Mariachi and Folklórico program.

Rivera said the event will celebrate several Latinx and Hispanic cultures. 

Everyone is welcome to attend.

It was created out of inspiration from the Las Patrias parade
