State lawmakers recently approved funding aimed at improving ferry reliability and long-term capacity.
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. — A Washington State Ferries vessel serving the Anacortes–San Juan Islands route was taken out of service Friday due to a mechanical issue, forcing cancellations and schedule adjustments.
The Issaquah was pulled from service after a problem involving a pump that lubricates part of the ferry’s electrical system, according to WSF spokesperson Kurt Workman. Crews replaced a breaker and continued troubleshooting Friday afternoon.
Repairs were complete by 4 p.m. and WSF was awaiting an inspection from the Coast Guard before putting the ferry back in service.
