Marysville firefighter joins nationwide tribute in Idaho

The procession and memorial brought together more than 100 pipers and drummers the Puget Sound area.

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — A Marysville firefighter is back home after traveling to Idaho to honor two fellow firefighters killed in what authorities describe as an ambush attack during a wildfire response.

Driver-Operator Jacob McConkey of Marysville Fire District was among hundreds of first responders from around the country who gathered in Coeur d’Alene to remember Battalion Chiefs John Morrison and Frank Harwood. The two men were fatally shot June 29 while responding to a fire that investigators say was intentionally set to lure them in.
