Son Thien Nguyen received a plea deal after pleading guilty to second-degree manslaughter.
OLYMPIA, Wash — A 33-year-old man prosecutors say sold drugs to an Olympia teenager prior to him overdosing and dying in 2024 was sentenced to just under three years in prison on Wednesday.
Son Thien Nguyen was previously charged with controlled substance homicide. He pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.
Nguyen was sentenced to 34 months for manslaughter and 20 months for the controlled substance charge. Those sentences will be served concurrently. After, he will spend 12 months in community custody.
