Man sentenced to 9 years for fatal shooting outside Nathan Hale High School

The judge ultimately sentenced Camara to 108 months, or nine years, and said the plea deal reflected that the shooting was not preplanned.

SEATTLE — A man convicted of fatally shooting another man near Nathan Hale High School in 2023 was sentenced Thursday to nine years in prison, as emotional testimony from both families played out in a King County courtroom.

Kajari Camara, who was found guilty of manslaughter in the death of 27-year-old A.J. Orozco, appeared before Judge Cindi Port for sentencing. Sheriff’s deputies escorted him past Orozco’s mother and young daughter as he entered the courtroom.
