Man rescued after high tide traps him in hammock near Kingston

A double amputee stuck in a beach hammock during high tide was rescued by Washington State Ferries and Kitsap County deputies.

KINGSTON, Wash. — First responders rescued a man in a hammock who got trapped in high tide near Kingston on Tuesday night.

A 55-year-old man had tied his hammock to logs on the beach and got stuck when the tide came in.

Washington State Ferries staff members at the Kingston ferry terminal heard him calling for help around 10:30 p.m. and saw a flashing light in the water.
