Man accused of impersonating Edmonds police officer pleads not guilty

The man wore body armor marked “police” and went to an active crime scene in Bremerton last week in a vehicle with blue police-style lights, court documents say.

KITSAP COUNTY, Wash. — A man accused of impersonating an Edmonds police officer is facing multiple felony charges after appearing in court Monday.

Michael Scaletta Teates, 49, pleaded not guilty to criminal impersonation and unlawful possession of a firearm. Superior Court Judge Jennifer Forbes set his bail at $50,000, citing concerns about community safety.

At one point during the hearing, Teates appeared confused about the conditions of his release.
