‘Machining error’ causes delivery delay of Boeing 737 MAX airplanes

A group of Boeing’s 737 MAX airplanes were damaged in production. The company said it expects short-term delays, but expects to hit its year-end delivery totals.

SEATTLE — Boeing will likely miss delivery dates for its 737 MAX airplanes after a “machining error” during production damaged some airplanes. 

The company’s 737 program is adjusting its production of a group of airplanes to “fix wires that have small scratches due to a machining error,” Jonathan Higgins, a Boeing spokesperson, told KING 5.
