FERNDALE, Wash. — A Lummi Nation Police Department (LNPD) officer was shot multiple times during a traffic stop Monday morning.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says a 37-year-old LNPD officer was investigating a traffic incident on North Red River Road just before 1 a.m. Monday after a vehicle drove off of the road into a ditch. When the officer found the driver, they shot the officer multiple times and fled the area on foot.
