Lily Gladstone, Mountlake Terrace grad, makes history as first Native American nominated as best actress in the Oscars

Gladstone was voted “Most Likely to Win an Oscar” by her peers at Mountlake Terrace High School in 2004.

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Wash — Lily Gladstone has made history as the first Native American to be nominated for best actress at the Academy Awards.

Gladstone, who graduated from Mountlake Terrace High School, was nominated for playing Mollie Burkhart in “Killers of the Flower Moon,” a film based on David Grann’s 2017 nonfiction novel. Burkhart was a member of the Osage Nation whose family was murdered for their oil rights in the early 1920s.
