Light rail service between Eastside and Seattle to begin nearly 20 years after initial approval

Opening day could prove to be busy with the Mariners hosting the Cleveland Guardians at 6:40 p.m., hours after the first public rides are offered.

SEATTLE — On the eve of transit history, workers assembled tents, staging and signage as part of the grand opening celebration for the new Crosslake Connection, linking light rail between Seattle and the Eastside.

Events are planned at several stations, including South Bellevue, which previously served as the final destination of westbound passengers.
