Light rail expansion could force demolition of historic building in Tacoma

One of the options that Sound Transit is considering for the light rail expansion would result in the demolition of the more than 100-year-old building.

TACOMA, Wash. — A building over 100 years old in Tacoma could soon be torn down. 

One of the options for the planned light rail expansion connecting Tacoma to Federal Way includes demolishing Freighthouse Square.

Freighthouse Square is near the Tacoma Dome and is currently home to around 20 small, local businesses, including shops and restaurants.
