Local nonprofits say they are “outraged” by the Trump administration’s plans to eliminate the 988 LGBTQ+ youth crisis line.
SEATTLE — The Trump administration is getting significant push back from many in Washington. After it shared plans to eliminate the 988 suicide prevention and crisis line dedicated to helping LGBTQ+ youth.
“People’s lives are on the line, when we take away critical anonymous skilled resources,” said Michelle McDaniel.
The specialized 988 suicide crisis line for LGBTQ+ youth also known as the “Press 3 option” is set to end July 17.
“We’re getting more and more calls from people who part of the LGBTQ+ community who are very afraid,”
