King County Metro to initiate full fare enforcement starting Saturday

The fare is currently $2.75 for adults, while people under the age of 18 can ride free with an ORCA Youth card.

SEATTLE — After two months of reminders, King County Metro said it will begin full fare enforcement starting Saturday. 

King County Metro fare enforcement officers will start issuing printed warnings and citations Saturday to riders who do not have proof of fare payment on buses and streetcars.

The agency said during the fare education phase in April and May, 76% of riders had proof of payment. Fare enforcement officers told the other riders about reduced fare programs and ways to prove payment.
