SEATTLE — The King County Auditor’s Office issued a report Tuesday that found potential fraud in community grants from the Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS).
According the auditor’s office, the report looked at four programs, Family Intervention and Restorative Services, Liberation and Healing from Systemic Racism, Restorative Community Pathways and Stopping the School-to-Prison Pipeline. Between 2020 and 2023, grant funding went from $22 million to $1.5 billon. Over half of the recipients of this money were flagged as “high risk,” according to the report.
