Kent police arrest woman in connection with daughter’s homicide

KENT, Wash. — A Kent woman is in custody on suspicion of killing her daughter earlier this week.

The Kent Police Department (KPD) said officers were dispatched to an apartment on West Smith Street on Sunday after a domestic violence assault was reported, the department said in a release. Firefighters were already on sight treating a 28-year-old woman, but police were called after first responders were advised the injuries were caused by a family member, KPD said.

Officers at the scene determined that the victim’s 58-year-old mother assaulted her, causing “significant injuries.” The victim was stabilized at the residence after her condition “deteriorated rapidly,” police said. She
