Just miles apart, Pierce County sees two $1 million lottery winners in last week

Millions of dollars are waiting to be claimed from recent lottery jackpots, according to officials.

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash — In the past week, two different people in Pierce County have purchased lottery tickets that were worth at least $1 million.

Washington’s Lottery says the first ticket was a $3.4 million jackpot purchased in Sumner for the July 12 drawing. For the drawing two days later on July 14, a $1 million jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Lakewood.

A spokesperson says the Sumner ticket was purchased at the Fred Meyer on Valley Avenue East, and the Lakewood ticket came from a Safeway on Steilacoom Boulevard
