Jury deliberates fate of self-represented murder suspect in Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. — A Pierce County jury will soon begin deliberating the fate of a man accused of second-degree murder after closing arguments wrapped up Thursday afternoon in a Tacoma courtroom.

Jermell Warren, 42, is accused of shooting and killing 39-year-old Angelina Palmer outside a Spanaway 7-Eleven in 2022. Prosecutors allege Warren confronted a driver in the store’s parking lot, pulled a gun, and was then pepper sprayed. As the driver fled the scene, prosecutors say Warren fired several shots, one of which struck and killed Palmer.
