SEATTLE — A federal judge in Seattle heard arguments Monday in a lawsuit challenging the Trump administration’s recent overhaul of Head Start, the long-standing federal program that provides free preschool, childcare, and family support services to low-income families.
The lawsuit, filed by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of Head Start providers and advocacy groups in Washington, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, argues the administration’s changes violate constitutional protections and congressional mandates.
