Job Corps center in Sedro-Woolley avoids closure after court ruling

A judge temporarily halted federal cuts, allowing Cascades Job Corps Center to continue serving young adults with education and housing.

SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — A Skagit County center that provides workforce training and education for young adults will avoid closure after a judge intervened.

Cascades Job Corps Center in Sedro-Woolley is one of the centers that will resume operations after Wednesday’s court ruling.

Judge Andrew L. Carter in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York issued a temporary restraining order against federal program cuts after the National Job Corps Association sued the Department of Labor.
