Invasive spongy moth eradication efforts coming to east King County, Lakewood

Washington state steps up its battle against the invasive spongy moth this spring, planning aerial treatments across 831 acres in King and Pierce counties.

SEATTLE — Washington agriculture officials are expected to continue efforts this spring to eradicate the spongy moth, targeting areas of King and Pierce counties.

The spongy moth is a nonnative invasive tree and shrub pest that has defoliated millions of acres in the eastern U.S.
