Immigrant advocates rally in Olympia, push funding for WAISN deportation hotline amid rise in ICE activity

This is the ninth annual Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Day in Olympia.

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Hundreds of immigrant advocates and community members packed the state Capitol on Wednesday, urging lawmakers to increase funding for a statewide deportation defense hotline and support legislation aimed at placing more safeguards on federal immigration enforcement.

Chants of “Sí se puede!” echoed through the crowd as families shared personal stories of fear, loss and uncertainty, calling on state leaders to protect immigrant communities amid rising immigration enforcement activity in Washington.
