‘Illegally parked vehicles at the summit’ close US 2 near Stevens Pass, WSDOT says

GOLD BAR, Wash. — U.S. Highway 2 near Stevens Pass was closed Friday after illegally parked vehicles prevented snowplows from clearing the road, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

WSDOT said the highway is closed between mileposts 55 and 85, noting severe winter weather and heavy traffic. The agency further said that the pass would be closed overnight and reassess conditions for a potential reopening Saturday morning.
