I-5 shut down in Lewis County during standoff with suspect

Washington State Patrol has closed I-5 in both directions near the Highway 12 interchange in Lewis County for a suspect refusing to exit their vehicle.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Interstate 5 came to a standstill in both directions Thursday evening in rural Lewis County, Wash., due to a law enforcement standoff with a barricaded suspect, Washington State Patrol confirmed.

WSP Trooper Kameron Watts posted on social media that the suspect had eluded deputies from Mason and Thurston counties. The suspect’s vehicle went over spike strips on I-5 southbound in Lewis County before coming to a stop near Rush Road, just north of the US 12/Avery Road interchange.
