Hiker dies after fall on Skagit County trail

A 63-year-old man died after falling up to 200 feet while hiking Sauk Mountain Trail east of Mt. Vernon.

CONCRETE, Wash. — A 63-year-old man died Saturday after falling from the Sauk Mountain Trail near Concrete, east of Mt. Vernon, according to the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched around 2:00 p.m. after reports that the man, who was hiking with a group of eight people, slipped and fell an estimated 150 to 200 feet.
