SEATTLE — The man tasked with replacing one of the most successful basketball coaches in the history of the sport hails from Seattle.
Mitch Johnson was announced Friday morning as the new head coach of the San Antonio Spurs, replacing five-time National Basketball Association (NBA) champion Gregg Popovich. The 38-year-old Johnson had been filling in for Popovich as interim coach since November when Popovich took a health-related leave of absence.
