Colleen Melody, a civil rights attorney, will replace retiring Justice Mary Yu on the state’s highest court.
OLYMPIA, Wash. — Gov. Bob Ferguson made his first appointment to the Washington Supreme Court Monday. Civil rights attorney Colleen Melody will replace Justice Mary Yu, who is retiring, on the state’s highest court.
In 2015, Ferguson created the Wing Luke Civil Rights Division while he was serving as Washington’s Attorney General. Melody, a career civil rights attorney, has led the division since its inception.
