SEATTLE — Gas prices in Washington state have surged past $5 per gallon as global oil markets react to the ongoing war involving Iran, while electricity costs for households have also climbed sharply.
The statewide average price for a gallon of regular gasoline reached $5 Tuesday, according to AAA. That is up 8 cents from the day before and 31 cents higher than one week ago.
