Free rides to cooling shelters in Pierce County amid Heat Advisory

Rides will be free Tuesday, Aug. 12 through the end of the service day.

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Pierce Transit will be offering free rides to cooling centers and shelters Tuesday, Aug. 12. 

The agency is partnering with the Pierce County Department of Emergency Management to provide free rides to cooling centers and shelters. The Puget Sound area remains under a Heat Advisory until 10 p.m. Tuesday night. 

The Heat Advisory comes as a ridge of high pressure moves in the region. Additionally, the area does not see much cooling overnight as lows on dip into the mid-60s or warmer in certain locations.
