The Red Cross has teams dedicated to helping people with disabilities, including a family from Auburn.
AUBURN, Wash. — Flooding across western Washington has forced hundreds of people from their homes and into emergency shelters as rivers rose and evacuation orders expanded.
The American Red Cross opened nine shelters the disaster area in western Washington, eight managed by the Red Cross and one run by a partner agency. As of the most recent count, 167 people were staying in shelters overnight, and since the flooding began, people have slept in emergency shelters more than 970 times, which reflects ongoing displacement.
