Flight attendant says exploding coffee maker on Alaska flight left permanent scars

The suit says at least nine flight attendants were burned before the plaintiff was injured near Phoenix.

SEATTLE — A Washington flight attendant has sued Stumptown Coffee in federal court in Seattle, alleging the company’s coffee packaging contributed to an onboard coffee maker failure that left her with serious burns on an Alaska Airlines flight in April 2024.

According to the complaint, Victoria Waldron was working about 30 minutes before landing in Phoenix when a coffee maker in the plane’s galley failed and sprayed scalding coffee, grounds and boiling water.
