Washington state flags will be at half-staff next Friday, honoring Major Ariana Savino, who died in a combat mission in Iraq.
SEATTLE — Flags at all Washington state agency facilities will be lowered to half-staff on Friday, April 10, 2026, in honor of United States Air Force Major Ariana Savino.
Savino, 31, of Covington, died March 12, 2026, in an incident in Western Iraq during a combat mission tied to operations involving Iran. Savino was among six servicemembers who died following the loss of a refueling aircraft in Iraq.
