The full “cold” moon arrives Dec. 4 and will herald the final round of king tides for the year.
WESTPORT, Wash. — December’s “cold” moon reaches its peak Thursday, capping the year’s supermoon cycle and coinciding with higher-than-normal tides along the Washington coast.
The final full moon of the year comes with an astronomical bonus: It is also the third and last supermoon of 2025. According to Almanac.com, “It will be higher in the sky than any other full moon until 2042.”
