Councilmember Martin Moore was removed from the council president role on Tuesday with some members saying the post blurred personal and professional lines.
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — The Federal Way City Council voted to remove its council president on Tuesday night following backlash over a social media post supporting a student walkout protesting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
In a lengthy, heated special meeting on Feb. 10, the council voted 4-3 to remove Councilmember Martin Moore as president. Councilmembers Susan Honda, Melissa Hamilton, Jack Walsh and Linda Kochmar voted to remove Moore; Councilmembers Moore, Lydia Assefa-Dawson and Les Sessoms voted against his removal.
