With Opening Day on Thursday, fans are reflecting on the Kingdome 50 years after it first opened in March 1976 and became home to the Mariners in 1977.
SEATTLE — As the Seattle Mariners celebrate 50 seasons, fans across generations are looking back to where it all began: at the Kingdome.
Though the Mariners now play at T-Mobile Park, formerly known as Safeco Field, the memories of the concrete stadium remain at the heart of Mariners history.
Randy Perry, who grew up in Bremerton, remembers taking the ferry to Seattle with his father to attend the team’s inaugural game on April 6, 1977.
