Expedia to lay off 200 employees in Seattle

SEATTLE — Expedia will lay off more than 200 employees in Seattle and more globally as it restructures, according to a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing.

The SEC filing revealed that Seattle-based Expedia will lay off 1,500 employees globally, costing $80 to $100 million in employee severance and compensation benefits. The filing said the layoffs come as a restructuring and recalibration of the company’s resources

According to the Washington state’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, 208 Seattle employees will be impacted by the layoffs, with a separation date of May 1.
