Duplex catches fire as Thurston County sheriff’s deputies evict resident

The resident eventually exited the home and was taken to a local hospital.

THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — A duplex was significantly damaged by fire as Thurston County sheriff’s deputies served a court-ordered eviction notice at a home Wednesday morning.

Deputies said the tenant of the Lacey home in the 4800 block of Carpenter Road SE was not cooperating and refused to leave. They said he knew the eviction was scheduled.
