Driver taken into custody after hours-long standoff on I-5 in Lewis County

The freeway was shut down while law enforcement negotiated with the driver after a pursuit ended near milepost 69 in rural Lewis County.

LEWIS COUNTY, Wash. — A driver was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff with law enforcement closed Interstate 5 in Lewis County on Thursday, Washington State Patrol confirmed. 

The standoff followed a pursuit on I-5 that ended near milepost 69 on southbound I-5. The chase ended when a WSP trooper deployed spike strips and the suspect vehicle was disabled after hitting a road sign.
