DOJ, EPA and Washington reach proposed $668M settlement with Boeing, Seattle and King County, to clean up Seattle’s Lower Duwamish

SEATTLE — The Justice Department, Environmental Protection Agency and the state of Washington said Wednesday they reached agreement on a proposed settlement with more than 100 responsible parties to address hazardous substances released into the Lower Duwamish Waterway in Seattle, with cleanup work estimated to cost $668 million and take at least 10 years to complete.

Under the proposed settlement, the Lower Duwamish Waterway Group – made up of Boeing, the city of Seattle, King County – agreed to design and perform the cleanup
