WASHINGTON — The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced on Wednesday that it may close recreational sites due to state budget cuts.
According to a press release, DNR states that it has been underfunded for years. This includes funding for cleaning restrooms, clearing trails, clearing storm damage, addressing ongoing public abuse and more. DNR says the lack of funding makes it hard to keep recreational spaces safe and accessible.
