SEATTLE — Discovery Park is one step closer to redeveloping Fort Lawton into affordable housing, following the close of a public comment period Friday on the project’s latest environmental impact report.
The city’s redevelopment plan calls for purchasing the former military site from the U.S. Army and constructing up to 500 housing units to serve approximately 1,600 permanent residents at an estimated cost of $60 million. About 22 acres would be developed as recreational park space.
